Natrona County Meals on Wheels Eligibility and How to Join the Program
Eligibility
To qualify for our services, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be 60 years of age or older
- Be the spouse of someone aged 60 or older
- Be a disabled individual living with an eligible senior aged 60 or older
- Participate in the Medicaid Waiver program
All new Meals on Wheels clients will take part in a comprehensive, one-on-one assessment with our social worker. During this assessment, we work with you to determine an appropriate contribution based on your ability to support the cost of meals.
No eligible senior will ever be denied meals due to an inability to contribute.
We are committed to ensuring everyone has access to nutritious meals regardless of their financial situation.
Instructions for Clients
Meals are delivered hot and ready to enjoy. If you plan to reheat your meal later, be sure to refrigerate it promptly to maintain freshness and safety.
For meals intended for dinner or the weekend, please refrigerate or freeze them immediately upon receipt.
If you won’t be home during a delivery or prefer not to receive a meal on a particular day, please call our office at 307-265-8659 by 9 a.m. This helps us avoid unnecessary waste.
If you need your meal delivered while you’re away, please coordinate with our office in advance. Options include:
- Delivering the meal to a trusted neighbor.
- Placing the meal directly into your refrigerator.
- Leaving it in a clean cooler with ice outside your front door.
Your safety is our priority. If we arrive to deliver your meal and you haven’t informed us that you’ll be away, and there’s no response at the door, we will make every effort to confirm your whereabouts and ensure you are safe.
During your initial assessment visit, we’ll ask for the name, address, and phone number of an emergency contact. This allows us to reach out if we ever have concerns about your well-being.
